Dudley Raine, IV is a New-York based violist originally from Lynchburg, Virginia. Trained in the classical tradition, he has experience in many styles of music including contemporary and traditional Irish music. Dudley is a founding member of the opus87 piano quartet which, alongside standard repertoire, advocates for and commissions new music as an integral part of their programming. In his upcoming projects, Raine will be performing and recording in New York with opus87 and collaborating with composers Sarah Thompson and Chelsea Komschlies.
Dudley has performed in such prestigious venues as Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall, the Kauffman Center, and Carnegie Hall. He has recorded music for television and independent film, played with American Ballet Theatre, and performed in the Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival. Dudley can be seen performing with New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, as a resident artist in the City Concert Society, and in the resident ensemble at Calvary Church.
Raine has appeared in masterclasses with Craig Mumm, Jeffrey Irvine, Sheila Brown and Susan DuBois. He has attended summer music programs including the Chautauqua Institute, Cortona New Music Sessions, and Wintergreen Summer Music Academy. Dudley studied with Karen Ritscher at the Manhattan School of Music, and is now pursuing a master's degree with Shmuel Katz. He performs on a viola by Carlo Carletti made in Pieve di Cento in 1910
